The I AM's of Jesus
I AM The Light of the World
The Apostle Paul writes in II Corinthians 4, that the light of the knowledge of the Glory of God shines in our hearts in the face of Jesus Christ. Here is where God’s light shines. It shines in the person of Jesus Christ. What does it mean that the light of the knowledge of the glory of God is shining in us? What does that mean? Do you and I understand what Paul is saying?
Paul prayed in Ephesians 1 that God would enlighten our heart, that He would give unto us the spirit of revelation in the knowledge of him that we would know the hope of His calling. That we would know the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints. That we would know the power of God toward us that believe. All this knowing comes by seeing. In the natural we cannot see without light. It is the reality in God. Without light we do not see.
The light of the knowledge of the glory of God is Jesus Christ. Here is where we see, comprehend, and understand our calling. Here is where we comprehend the riches of His inheritance in the saints. Here is where understand God’s power toward us in Christ. Now where else do we see this but in the Light of Jesus Christ. We are called to the fellowship of the Son. We do not know this fellowship until we see and know it in Him. We are filled with the riches of His inheritance. We understand His inheritance as we see and understand Him. We are raised up in the power of His resurrection. We understand resurrection as we understand Him.
All our seeing and knowing is defined in the person, and reality of Jesus Christ. John 17 wraps this up. Jesus declares “that they may be one, I in them, thou in me that they may be made perfect in one.” Understanding our salvation is to understand Him. To be one with Him is to be in glory. There is no greater glory than Christ Himself. He is the glory of God. Let us come to the place where we say, “That I may know Him!” Father give me the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him that I might see and be changed! Glory to God!
