In the Book of Romans one of the most important statements is made for the believer, when we are able to comprehend it. "Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."
"The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death." What a statement! How did this happen? To answer the question of how, let's look at Jesus. Jesus was made a man in the flesh, and he died as a man in the flesh. This is the how. In His death he condemned, or judged sin in the flesh as dead, and He buried it. The word condemned in the King James means to judge against or sentence.
The cross of Christ was the sentence to sin in the flesh. When he died, we died with him to the verdict of sin. Now when He arose, he arose unto the life of God. When we receive Him, we in like manner receive new life in Christ from God. Our new life is out from the death of Adam, or the nature of sin. Our new life is Christ in us. I believe we could say, the law of life or Christ in us, has made us free from sin and death. He has now become our Life. Glory to God!
